What are Tracking Scripts?

Snippets of JavaScript or similar code embedded into a website’s code to monitor user behavior, collect metrics, and set or access cookies.

Tracking Scripts are the technical implementation of non-essential trackers and are the primary focus of cookie enforcement actions.

They must be conditionally loaded only after explicit user consent is received, a function managed via a CMP’s integration with Cookie Consent GTM.

The operational impact is ensuring the pre-consent firing of these scripts is technically impossible, which can be validated using Browser Developer Tools.
